The water footprint of the plant crop of sugarcane variety TUC 03-12 in Tafí Viejo (Tucumán-Argentina) was quantified. The study followed the guidelines of the Water Footprint Network. The results showed a green water footprint of 118.8 m³/t, a blue water footprint of 0 m³/t (it is a rainfed crop), and a grey water footprint of 678 m³/t, which was high due to the use of triazine herbicides. This evaluation serves as a basis for future analyses in other stages of sugarcane bioethanol production.
