Castilla Sugar Mill Agrícola, km 30 vía Cali-Florida – Valle del Cauca, Colombia
In recent years, water sources in the area of Castilla Agricola S.A. have declined, primarily due to climate variability and increased demand from regional users. This situation requires the use of technologies that promote efficient water use. The Administrative Irrigation Control (AIC) has proven effective in optimizing irrigation scheduling and ensuring high-quality application. Since 2010, AIC has been implemented by evaluating key parameters for each irrigation event, including water resource availability, applied volume, water requirements per hectare, application hours, and irrigated area. The analysis of this data has supported the implementation of more than 10 projects aimed at enhancing irrigation efficiency, including the replacement of conveyance channels, the use of soil moisture sensors, canal lining, land leveling, drip irrigation, and pivot irrigation. These projects have required an investment of USD 3,250,000.
