The International Society of Sugar Cane Technologists (ISSCT) Agriculture Commission Workshop, held from 19 to 22 August 2024 in Pattaya, Thailand, focused on advancing agricultural engineering and agronomy practices within the global sugarcane industry. Under the theme Towards BCG (Bio-Circular-Green) Economy: Smart Farm to Drive Economic Recovery and Sustainable Sugarcane Industries, the workshop brought together experts to address critical challenges and innovations in climate-smart agriculture, precision farming, and sustainable mechanization.
The ISSCT Co-Products Workshop was held in Saint-Paul, Réunion from 16 to 20 September 2024 and attended by 27 delegates from Australia, Colombia, France/Réunion, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, South Africa, Thailand, United States of America, and Zimbabwe.
The joint workshop of the Engineering and Processing Sections of the ISSCT Factory Commission was held in Berlin, Germany from 6 to 10 October 2024. It was the best attended ISSCT workshop with 120 registered delegates from 20 countries.
The XIII ISSCT Pathology Workshop was held together with the XI Entomology Workshop from 25 to 27 November 2024 in Salta, Argentina, followed by a two-day field trip to north western Argentina. The workshop focused on dealing with sugarcane diseases in the context of regenerative agriculture.
The ISSCT 13th Germplasm & Breeding /10th Molecular Biology Workshop was jointly organized by ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore and the Society for Sugarcane Research and Development, Coimbatore, India from 8-12 July 2024.
The ISSCT Entomology Workshop was held in Salta, Argentina from 25 to 27 November 2024 in conjunction with the Plant Pathology Workshop. The three-day joint workshop was followed by a two-day field trip to Río Grande, Ledesma, and Seaboard sugar mill areas, and research facilities of INTA Yuto in Jujuy and Chacra in Salta.
