The Sugarcane Research Institute of Cuba (INICA) provides a breeding program to develop new cultivars for the industry. This implies that an extensive volume of data is handled annually from a population of clones and cultivars in different stages of selection. A new version of the SASEL software with intelligent data management to support the sugarcane breeding program is presented. The relationship structure of the data tables used in the previous version was reconstructed and PostgreSQL 16 was used as database manager. The software was updated to cover all the stages of the selection process. This new version incorporated models for the evaluation of parents and crosses, methodologies for their classification, and an algorithm for the detection of elite individuals in early stages of selection with possibilities of becoming a commercial cultivar, as well as new macro data «big data» tools that make the sugarcane genetic selection process more efficient.
